Hi, I just joined emusic due to their two week free trial period - I need to install the linux version of their emusic manager - do I need the .gz or the .rpm version?

Rpm's are for rpm based distros like red hat, fedora, mandriva etc.

If you are running archlinux you would wan't to use ABS to make a package and use pacman to install it. Go for .gz and then head for the ABS wiki for instructions on how to make arch packages.
