Hi, I'm trying to run Guild Wars in Wine (using PlayOnLinux) but either way not using PlayOnLinux or using it I get an error of "Unable to initialize 3D output. Please verify that you have installed DirectX 8 and an updated video driver" which I do have DirectX 8 installed & updated video driver unless I have to do something in the winecfg in order for it to work. If someone knows a way to resolve this it'd be nice.

What video card/driver are you using and what's the output of glxinfo?
You should also try running something like supertuxcart to make sure 3D is actually working - it doesn't look like a Wine issue.

Install a corresponding 32-bit OpenGL library. For nvidia it is lib32-nvidia-utils, for Intel lib32-libgl and for AMD/ATI lib32-catalyst-utils.

Have you installed winetricks? It's a pretty useful tool to install all sorts of other libraries to improve compatibility.
pacman -S winetricks
For Baldur's Gate I had to install directplay, and I see that there are some DirectX 9 options . . . try d3dx9.
winetricks directplay d3dx9
You can also just run winetricks with no arguments to get a complete list of packages available. Take a look and maybe you'll find something pertinent.
Good luck!

Thanks. I will try those ways you guys listed above and post back on what works. Only reason why I haven't replied sooner is because I haven't been on the computer.
