cups Different Printers - same usb-parallel-adapter-chip

hi Community

I have two printers here:
one hp LaserJet 4l
one hp DeskJet 720c

they are both connected via Prolific PL2305 USB-Parallel adapters. The LaserJet is up and running.
Device URI is usb://HP/LaserJet%204L

Now connecting the DeskJet has a strange result:
lpinfo -v shows the following output:

direct usb://HP/LaserJet%204L
direct usb://LaserJet/LaserJet%204L

(the lower line appears only after connecting the DeskJet)

Cups seems to confuse the two printers. My Guess would be that this is because of the same PCI IDs (lsusb says so) that the adapters have. However, they are connected to physically different usb ports.

lsusb output:

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 067b:2305 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2305 Parallel Port
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 067b:2305 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2305 Parallel Port

Using the DeskJet is not possible. After configuring it, no jobs reach it (well, it does nothing). My guess is they get sent to the LaserJet.

Do you know a possibility to show cups that these printers are different?

Thanks in advance,
Crispin

bump:

LaserJet is correctly installed and works. When I plug in the DeskJet, it is not possible to print via the LaserJet anymore.

Any Ideas?
