gnome-panel applets crashing with compiz 0.8.6-2 at login

I am experiencing a bug that has been reported on launchpad for compiz 0.9 on ubuntu natty:

Binary package hint: compiz

At session start, you can get a lot of errors with "applet xxxx crashed, do you want to reload it or not". It only happens with compiz.

It seems to be linked to the window reparenting in compiz. Particularly obvious when gnome-panel has its startup animation enabled like it is by default upstream and in ubuntu.

Random applets crash sporadically when I login. They don't crash always and it's not always the same. It's usually either the notification area, the clock applet or the system monitor.
When I load compiz with the fusion-icon method, the crashes are gone.

Is someone experiencing the same problems? Should I report this bug on the arch bug tracker?

Yes, I have the same problem. It has gotten a lot worse after the latest xorg update: gnome now crashes for me on login so I had to disable compiz completely.
