I have an Inspiron 1520, with installed kernel 2.6.36 (I had to use this since updating to 2.6.37 was causing kernel panics). I have installed both Arch & Win7 in ext3 and ntfs partition res[ectively. I have a separate partition for my major Data which is ntfs. Copying from the Arch ext3 to the Data ntfs (same hdd) is very slow (60KBps) while copying to an external usb drive ntfs partition goes at the nominal 20+MBps
I hope someone can point to the source of this problem.
Regards,
Apoorv

Is ntfs-3g installed? It's in extra repository and on my ntfs disk works well

There are many people with similar, ntfs-related problems, no definite solution unfortunately:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 70#p773470 - it's about copying to USB

This was due to vuze downloading files directly to the ntfs partition. Somehow its indexing mechanism causes this. I read about this somewhere and am not completely sure but reformatting the ntfs partition and moving the vuze download directory solved this.
