KDE 4.6 Mouse woes

I've searched and googled and searched some more, with no help, so, I'm asking for yours.

When I start my system, it loads KDM using the runlevel 5 method, then I log in to KDE4.6.

Problem is, after a minute or so, the mouse stops responding to WM events, but still works on the taskbar. I even thought I may have done something wrong with a custom kernel, but to no avail. I reinstalled from scratch (using archboot as I'm on a DMRAID), and still experience the same issue!

When I log out, and log back in, the mouse works, and continues to work, just fine.

Any ideas?

Re: KDE 4.6 Mouse woes

I have been experiencing some similar problems with one of my systems which uses a USB wireless mouse.
I happen to have a tablet in the same machine and noticed that the wacom tablet works just fine, so I did not try too hard to fix the problem tongue

I did notice that log-out / log-in fixes the problem for awhile and then it reappears.
I,sadly, cannot give you a solution but I just decided to post so that you know it is not just you ... there may be a problem at some level with the upgrade.

Re: KDE 4.6 Mouse woes

Thanks for the reply, but what I really need is a fix! Getting very annoying. I don't want to go back to Kubuntu/Ubuntu, but this is a business desktop, and I need it working.

Re: KDE 4.6 Mouse woes

Nobody have anything for me?

It's a Logitech wireless mouse, with a USB receiver. Going to try and find my wired mouse to see if that helps at all.

EDIT: Just plugged in a wired mouse, problem fixed itself for BOTH mice. Unplugged the wired, and the wireless is still working.

Guess I'd better keep the wired close to 'reset' the wireless to working order.

Re: KDE 4.6 Mouse woes

UPDATE:

I think the problem lies in the actual wireless mouse. It stopped working entirely today, until I unplugged the reciever, plugged it back in, hit connect a few times, and then, BAM. No more mouse problems (going on 16 hours now without so much as a glitch).

My poor mouse has served me well (7+ years), but it looks like I need to get myself a new one sad
