mangler / skype - microphone isnt working

Recently Mangler and Skype are failing to pick up my mic. I've made sure my alsa was up to date, both Mangler and Skype up to date. I've made sure my alsa configurations were absolutely positively playing my mic. For some reason, ALSA will not pick it up. One of my settings, I believe it is "Front Mic" will actually play my mic back to me, but that won't even work. Any suggestions or methods to going about fixing my problem? All other audio works fine, by the way.

Edit: After doing some tinkering at least seeing if seeing up equalization would yield me some results I get this error trying to test my mic with  arecord -d 5 test-mic.wav:

$  arecord -d 5 test-mic.wav
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:957:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) The dmix plugin supports only playback stream
arecord: main:660: audio open error: Invalid argument

Did I break dmix somehow?

Pastebin or post the output of "amixer" so we can have a closer look at your various sound card channels and their settings.

http://pastebin.com/cwDuE9LJ is my amixer. I tried just about every configuration possible, but all I got was some growling, and now I can't get capture to work with said error in my OP.

Edit: I attempted to rebuild my entire Arch Install and still arrived at the same problem as before. I attempted to use mangler as root to try it out and I got a bit more noise than normal, but still noise nonetheless. Perhaps it's a mic jack problem.

I could not get magler to work with my microphone until I added the pulse package.
