Audio CD isn't shown in Removable Devices

G'day
I have a problem. Everytime I insert Audio CD inside /dev/sr0, I get a bunch of

[ 8090.874657] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 8
[ 8091.378850] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0]  Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE
[ 8091.378855] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0]  Sense Key : Illegal Request [current]
[ 8091.378860] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] Add. Sense: Illegal mode for this track
[ 8091.378866] sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] CDB: Read(10): 28 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 02 00
[ 8091.378874] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 64

messages in dmesg. But that itself might not indicate an error, because Fedora 14 default kernel throws the very same msgs, but nonetheless the CD is clickable on the desktop. However, my Arch KDE 4.6.0 install doesn't show the CD among the Removable Devices applet, nor does the Chakra latest beta. What is even more peculiar, Dolphin shows Audio CD on the left side (in "Places"), but when I try moving the mouse over the files on the CD, the rest of the system becomes slow to respond.
What is more, Audio CD worked in previous version of KDE (4.5.x). It's probably connected with dropping hal backend in favour of udisks, what do you think?

Oh, and is there a way of checking if DVD-drive is working all right? I don't know if it is useful piece of information, but I can't burn error-free DVD neither with K3b (Arch KDE 4.6.0) nor Brasero (Fedora 14). I have fscked up 5 DVD+R's up till now.

Re: Audio CD isn't shown in Removable Devices

AFAIK you cannot mount or view audio cd's because they do not have a valid filesystem on them. The only think you can do with audio CD's in a computer is listen to them or rip them.

Re: Audio CD isn't shown in Removable Devices

Yeah, I know that AudioCD is not mountable in a traditional way. Keeping that in mind, I can still see some anomalies.

EDIT:
On the other hand, I've just succesfully made an image of the 8 GB Dual Layer DVD in K3b. I'm confused even more, to speak frankly.

How is this realted? VideoDVDs DO contain a valid filesystem.
Anyway to your problem: i guess the CD you try to insert is copy protected? which album is it?

Re: Audio CD isn't shown in Removable Devices

It's home-made CD, no obscure copy protection. I wanted to test whether the drive itself is not broken, because it has happened to me once already (Asus replaced the faulty drive then). To me it looks like some Solid-related error.

solid-hardware query "[ StorageVolume.ignored == false AND OpticalDisc.availableContent == 'Audio' ]"

solid-hardware query "[ StorageVolume.ignored == false AND OpticalDisc.availableContent == 'Audio' ]"

should as far as I know show some output, but here they don't. I will keep hacking on the issue.

EDIT:
Ok, that in fact is the issue inside Solid.
