I am using a wireless device (a Zoom X6) at home, allowing family and friends to connect to the web.
From time to time, I feel the urge to share files with, say, brother's PC (running Win7) using my Arch or Win7 box. To make this possible, I have to grab my USB drive, connect to brother's PC, copy files, disconnect, come back, move the files to my drive etc etc.
I hear about people sharing files through the wi-fi. Is this possible? Please inform me.
PS: Before bashing me, I can say that I have checked Google for relevant pages but they all contained dated information, and I am a real newbie when it comes to admin tasks.
Thanks!

As you want to share between Linux and Windows boxes your best bet is Samba: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samba

You can use samba or smclient (a subset of samba) to connect to Windows public shares. I used to connect to all Windows users in my old house with smbclient. Both are very well documented and have a number of helpful threads here in the forums.

Thanks for the quick replies! As suggested, I guess I will have a look into samba.
Is it also possible to connect two Linux boxes via samba?

Sure is... nfsv4 is faster and lower overhead in my experience.
