[SOLVED]Having problems with X..

I'm having some problems with X...I recently installed Xorg and Openbox, then did 'xinit /usr/bin/openbox-session' like the wiki said. And then OB started, everything is ok.I wanna go back to tty1,where I have irssi opened cause i wanted to ask something. So when I switch there irssi dissapears, the screen resolution goes back to the one like in BIOS at startup and a flashing underscore also appears?
What have I screwed, and how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance.
(I'm now posting this from Elinks)

Re: [SOLVED]Having problems with X..

Do you boot to the console? What graphics card do you have? Was the console resolution OK the first time?
If you have irssi running in tty1, how do you start X? Are you using dvtm or a similar tool? Do you start it from e.g. tty2? Have you tried switching to tty2, tty3 etc.?

Re: [SOLVED]Having problems with X..

Yes,I boot to the console.I have installed this a few hours ago.
I have ATI Radeon X1550 Series.
Well when I boot arch,it loads a few stuff in VGA mode like in BIOS and then it goes to the normal resolution.
I ran X from tty2,yes.I don't even know what dvtm is.
I tried to switch to other ttys too, same thing happened.A flashing underscore appears
It seems many people have this problem.

I think I have ATI Technologies Inc RV505 [Radeon X1550 Series].
At least that's what lspci outputs.

OK, but have you installed any driver for that card?

I'm not an ATI guy, but it may be a driver issue.

I don't know how to install the drivers, but I remember when I had ubuntu i could easily switch between ttys without anything crashing.

How about reading that wiki article I put a link to in my previous post? :-)

As I said, the driver issue is only a guess, but you should really familiarize yourself more with Arch.
