Hi,
I have installed chromium-browser-bin from AUR. It shows squares in text on some sites. Here are screenshots:

I think that you must install some fonts, but I rely don't know witch ones ...
Where there is a shell, there is a way

it's showing just on some of sites. For example archlinux.org, wikipedia, reddit are OK, but facebook is buggy.

Same problem for me with the same browser from AUR.
For instance here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 58#p899358
The posts from milomouse and JohannesSM64 are all squares.

It might be the encoding. Click on the wrench>Tools>Encoding. Try Unicode (UTF-8) or whichever encoding you usually prefer.

Have you tried deleting the config files in .config/chromium? Don't know if that'll fix anything though... probably just worth a shot.

Do you have some Japanese fonts installed? Those two posts specifically are in Japanese.

No, but i before i upgraded chromium i used to see them just fine (dejavu should have them in utf-8). However, this also means that it's probably just a temporary chromium thing, so this thread will probably not lead to a solution (except downgrading ofcourse ).

Does it work in normal chromium (not from AUR)?
no difference between chromium and chromium from AUR

I have chromium (not from AUR) and everything works great. Here is the list of fonts I have installed (other than those installed along with xorg):
ttf-freefont
ttf-dejavu
ttf-sazanami

I reinstalled that fonts, problem still persists.
