Anyone noticed that when opening a webpage on a new tab now there's a blindingly white page until the page actually starts rendering? It's not the 'about:blank' page and hence doesn't obey the firefox or theme colors.

I am new to Arch linux and one of the first things I want to tackle is getting Firefox 4.0 installed on Arch. I've installed x86_64 on a box at home. My question is this:
I would like to be able to download a Firefox 4.0 tarball from the Mozilla ftp (ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases) and install that on my Archbox. Since I'm new to Arch, can you give me some guidance on how to use pacman to install the appropriate libraries, e.g.
" Firefox will not run at all without the following libraries or packages:
GTK+ 2.10 or higher
GLib 2.12 or higher
Pango 1.14 or higher
X.Org 1.0 or higher
For optimal functionality, we recommend the following libraries or packages:
NetworkManager 0.7 or higher
DBus 1.0 or higher
HAL 0.5.8 or higher
GNOME 2.16 or higher"
I have experience installing Firefox this way on Ubuntu and Fedora, just not Arch specifically.
I will certainly try to search for these packages using pacman when I get home, but if you have some tips, I would appreciate anything you can think of! Thanks!

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Ok thank you but the beta version I installed from AUR will remain on my system ?
I don't want the two versions be present at the same time

Often the packages are named separately so that they do not conflict in that way. For example "firefox" vs "firefox-beta-bin". If they are set up in that way you can remove or install each separately and yes they would remain on the drive unless you manually remove the package in question.

Might we get an update to rc1 of this package?

I installed firefox 4rc from firefox.com. Everything works fine except new UI. I don't see a single button like at screenshots. I have default ff3 menu bar. Everybody gets such problem?

You have to disable the menubar

Right-click on the menubar, untick "Menu Bar", and voila!

EDIT: Fixed it!

@fettouhi
What did you do to get links working? I'm having the same problem and haven't found a solution.

How? This annoys me too but I haven't got time to look into it yet.

added http and https under file types in thunderbird and told it to use firefox.

ah, under Preferences > Attachments where it says "Always Ask" but it never did. Thank you. I'd been adding it under the configuration editor with no success.

Thanks for the repo!
I sincerely hope that final Firefox 4.0 offical repo package will have these cairo LCD patches included...
Otherwise if you would be so kind to build the final version too?
