[Solved] MacBook Air 3,2 Backlight

Hi,

I've installed Arch from archboot-2011.02-2 (with grub legacy on /boot).
The nouveau drivers are not working, so I installed the nvidia proprietary ones.
The backlight is working in console mode with pommed but not in Xorg.
So I dropped pommed and installed nvidia-bl although I don't know how to use it…

Any hints on how to solve this ?

Thanks.

You don't need nvidia-bl bloom, append this to the Device section of your xorg.conf instead:

Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"

Thanks, it worked !
I've removed nvidia-bl, added the above line to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf, reinstalled pommed, plugged my external A1242 USB keyboard (the special keys of the built-in keyboard are not recognized), launched Xorg and my eyes were delighted.

Try this pkgbuild.

Re: [Solved] MacBook Air 3,2 Backlight

If I run makepkg as a regular user, I get a permission error when the install script tries to remove my current hid-apple module.
Should I run makepkg with the --asroot option ? (Is it safe ?)

Yes no problem, this is my own pkgbuild. smile

Hélas, it's not working.

In that case, also add hid-apple to the modules line in your mkinitcpio.conf, then issue a mkinitcpio -p kernel26.

It worked, but now, the trackpad tap and double tap are gone… roll

Fortunately for you, that has nothing to do with the hid-apple module. smile

That's good to know.
I've just upgraded to the latest kernel and the internal keyboard special keys are gone.
Should I reinstall your pkg ?
