I've got an avi file which I converted to an iso with devede and then burned with xfburn.
I also followed the arch wiki on command line dvd burning, formatted the disk and burned again.
In both cases video is fine but there is no sound. I do have sound if I simply right click the avi file
and play it thru vlc or mplayer. This is a fairly new problem as I was burning dvd's last week with no trouble; and
other than running pacman -Syu a few times I can't think of anything I might have done.
I've got no idea where to look for a problem or what information might be helpful so any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Same problem here with Devede .
Never had any problems before , no other sound problems in my system as well.
i have dvdauthor 0.6.18-1 cause i had to downgrade since 0.7.0-1 was causing me some problems from time to time (see also : https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/22280 ) , but i think this is irrelevant with the sound problem.
My system is Linux 2.6.36-ARCH (x86_64) with gnome and ALSA

Man, this really sucks As well as downgrading mplayer and x264 I had to downgrade amarok to version 2.3.2-3 as the newer ones won't start because of the downgraded x264. I've posted to the devede mailing list as the bug at mplayer's bugzilla still has no response.

I had the same thing but found that if you check "This file already has AC3 sound (copy audio data instead of recompress it)" box under the advanced options tab that is above the preview button the sound works.

Thanks a lot. Testing it now.

Oh well, I will see if it worked when it is done. I thought maybe there was fix available but I guess not.

Just to avoid confusion, the "This file already has AC3 sound" checkbox does actually work and the video comes out with sound, but only if the video that your transcoding really does already have an ac3 audio stream, obviously. It just avoids messing with the audio all together and copies the old audio stream over.

did not solve the problem for me.
But
pacman -U mplayer-32663-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz x264-20101013-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
did.

You also need to add the line:
pkgrel=1
to the PKGBUILD in order to build the package.
Thanks a lot for the pkgbuild!!!
