Keyboard and mouse not working in X / X crashes [SOLVED]

EDIT(2): Problem solved, check out thn81's post below.

-----------------------------------

EDIT: My system was way out of date 'cause I was using a bad mirror. Now X doesn't start, but it does log correctly now:

Original message below.
-----------------------------------

I have an IBM SpaceSaver keyboard and an iHome USB laser mouse. I can start X, but the keyboard and mouse do nothing, and I have to do a hard reset every time I still don't have this problem solved. I do have nvidia, udev, xf86-input-keyboard, and xf86-input-mouse installed.

From Xorg.0.log.old (Xorg.0.log is empty):

Try installing xf86-input-evdev and xf86-video-nv (or xf86-video-nouveau)

Re: Keyboard and mouse not working in X / X crashes [SOLVED]

Update: The mirror I was using (umflint.edu) was way out of date. I've switched mirrors, and now one problem is solved -- Xorg actually logs stuff now.

Though it crashes when I try to start it. I guess that's better than starting badly but not logging.

Re: Keyboard and mouse not working in X / X crashes [SOLVED]

Try (re)-installing the xorg-xkbcomp, xorg-xkbevd and xorg-xkbutils packages. I did a system upgrade yesterday and got the same error & crash. pacman.log claimed that these packages were installed but I couldn't find the files on my system afterwards. Something went wrong for me but I don't know what it was...
Reinstalling these packages, however, fixed the problem here.
