Going crazy trying to figure out how to get mic working with ALSA. For some reason, gnome recorder manages to record audio, but anything that uses native ALSA doesn't (like skype). Tried unmuting every single thing there is in alsamixer, but no help. These are my current mixer settings:

I'm having the same problems as you, when i record a test using arecord all I can manage to record is static/feedback/general noise.. no voice.. Have done a lot of forum searching but none of the replies have fixed my problem, If anyone could shed any light on the situation would be much appreciated as I require the ability to record voice for my work. TIA !

Hm, After changing the port, (was using rear mic port, now using front) and playing around in alsamixer, It seems to work fine. If you think it will help I can post a screen of my alsamixer. I would recommend trying the front port (if you have one, that is.)

@khoma - The last three settings of your ALSA mixer dump show that "Input Source 0", "Input Source 1", and "Input Source 2" are all set to "Line". Try changing some/all of them to "Mic" or "Front Mic".
