I use testing repo. I added gnome unstable repo and in the update process I do have this output:

Do I have to remove gnome-panel-bonobo and all the related packages that rely on it before upgrading?
Thank you

Yes. It is needed, see page 20 of this thread.

Thank You. How is the gnome3 experience at this moment? Is it reliable? Better wait for the release candidate?

I tried it, except sometimes I can't log in the GNOME session (new user seems OK though), the biggest problem is Epiphany can't find flash plugin which I have installed, and Firefox 4 works well with the flash, anyone has met the same problem?

flash is blacklisted in epiphany. epiphany is gtk3, flash is gtk2...

So I'm having the problem where I can only launch gnome-shell as the root user. I get no error when trying to run it from gnome-terminal except for a segfault:
[christopher@acamar ~]$ gnome-shell --replace
Segmentation fault
Here's the output of my .xsession-errors:

I've been searching with Google for ~2 hours now with no results; and there's been no solution provided in this thread which works. Do any of you know what may be wrong?
[edit**]
Well, I just reinstalled my system and now it seems to be running without issue. I think the problem may have been with some funky xf86-video-ati drivers I was testing out at one time from an unofficial repo.

Hi,
installed Gnome 3 yesterday and it works quite well.
Is there a way to suspend to disk from menu? I can find suspend and power off, but not the hibernate thing.
Offline
Not by default. There is an extension in git.gnome.org/gnome-shell-extensions that replaces the status menu and adds an hybrid suspend/hibernate option along with another button for shutdown (instead of the hybrid suspend/shutdown used in the "core" shell).

Hi,
Is there a way to assign hot keys in the dash to the favorite application?

NOTICE
don't update from gnome-unstable today

gsettings-desktop-schemas-2.91.92-1 doesn't work for me. In gdm no icon could be displayed and after login gnome-shell won't start. Downgrading to 2.91.91, everything is fine again.
Edit: Ah, Wonder already give a notice not to upgrade today

Yeah, and if you read this too late and update, you will get an error that key named 'picture-filename' is not found in 'org.gnome.desktop.background'. I repaired this by downgrading gnome-session and gsettings-desktop-schemas using my /var/cache/pacman/pkg folder.

you only need to downgrade gsettings-desktop-schemas and upgrade libproxy to 0.6.4-5 (if you already upgrade libproxy to 0.6.4-3

It is getting tricky to follow the current state of Gnome 3 in Arch by reading this thread. Would it for instance be possible to enter some information about what works and what does not on the Gnome 3 wiki page? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gnome_3 and link to it from the first post?

the current status is:
gnome 3.0 rc1 landed, works but has some upstream bugs. IMO is more unstable than beta

Since you say it's more unstable, I'll wait till I finish all my work and commit before upgrading my work machine

Just a question : will there be a version of alacarte in order to generate desktop file for "homemade" version, like I do with Mozilla Firefox trunk code ?
Thanks for your answer. And I will wait for rc2 before jumping into gnome3

Gnome 3 RC1 seems to have quite a few bugs.. can no longer logout from the menu on the top right of the screen.. system settings don't work from the menu too.. Control Center works ok from the terminal or usings alt/F2.
Only way to logout, restart or shutdown is from the terminal in its current state. Can't seemed to connect to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/ to submit bugs.

@bakerboy the system settings bug is reported https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=645063 and it has a link to another reported for gnome-menus. The website broke when i clicked on the patch last night and i didn't manage to get it
