Disable disabling emulate3Button

Here: HP Pavilion dv1000, using arch for 3 years in a row

I've run across this annoying problem since I upgraded whole system last week
Synaptics touchpad behaves erratically again but the main problem is this:

I use my touchpad AND I use a usb mouse.

When X starts, I can emulate a middle click pressing both touchpad buttons.

But... if by any chance I press the USBMouse middle button (to paste, to open a newpage on browser, etc) then
touch pad 3rd button emulation stops working

checking Xorg.0.log I see these line:

[  6556.594] (II) 3rd Button detected: disabling emulate3Button

And it's consistent. I can do a middle click with 2 touchpad buttons UNTIL I press usbmouse mid buttton. Then Touchpad stops emulating middle click.

I've spent 2 hours poking at configurations trying to understand waht's going on to no avail

Here's my xorg.conf:

Now, the other problem is that again (after several years) synaptics touchpad started acting jumpy: it has become over sensitive and then slightest bruise of my palm hand makes cursor jump when I'm wroting makes cursor jump to another line, making me quite difficult to edit any text

I installed kcm_touchpad to get a synaptics options on KDE's control panel, but it's all dimmed and no option can be changed either.
