It's not really an issue which me but I want to ask this question for quite some time.
My system: x86_64, Slim, Openbox.
In my .xinitrc:
exec dbus-launch ck-launch-session openbox-session.Everything work fine. But when I use thunar or pcmanfm to mount a usb or a cd it give me an unauthorized.
Of course I can mount using root.
But here's the strange thing.
For some reason, when I run thunar or pcmanfm with dbus-launch, it works perfectly, mounting without any trouble at all.
So it fine, I can leave with a workaround.
However I want an explanation why this happens.
I did add dbus-launch to my exec line. Where did I go wrong or perhaps this is a slim problem?
Should I add this to the wiki in case some else ran into this?
Any ideas is welcome. Thanks in advance ![]()

What login manager are you using? Many of them currently have issues with
consolekit resulting in exactly this problem. Since the newest consolekit
version, login managers need to start it instead of the user in the .xinitrc
file, otherwise it won't work. You can check this by running ck-list-sessions
without arguments. If your session is shown as non-local, this is excatly the
issue.
Personally, I encountered it with xdm, which needs a patch to work with the
current consolekit.
Also, you should launch the dbus session before the window manager. See the
dbus-lauch manpage for details.

Oh, I've just found it out too, changed it to "exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch openbox-session" worked.
Seriously, I thought anywhere would work. Shouldn't the wiki say you must place it after ck-launch-session to make it work ![]()
I'll add it.
Thanks for your information.
I'll mark this as [Solve]
@luthurus: Thanks for your recommendation, I use slim purely 'cause of eye-candy reason.
Also, I prefer pcmanfm, I install thunar just to test if it work. Both of them work now. Thanks.
