/var reiserfs (pacman 3.5.1)

So when I installed arch (pacman <3.5) it was advised that /var partition was reiserfs to handle the many small files that pacman handled.  In light of the radical changes to the db and this no longer being the case, would it be better for the /var partition to use another file system type?

I only started thinking about it because it seems like pacman 3.5 sometimes lags momentarily on my system and it may actually be bit slower than the previous version. Could anyone offer any advice.  Thank you in advance.

Re: /var reiserfs (pacman 3.5.1)

from pacman-db-upgrade:

# pacman-3.4 to 3.5 upgrade - merge depends into desc

so, reiserfs is still needed.
