Wine binkw32.dll Beyond Good & Evil

Today I wan't to play Beyond Good & Evil. The first time I installed it, it failed. The second time it installed it BUT the installer didn't exit successfully. I thought ok let's try it out. Now i have a problem I start the game (in Terminal with "wine BGE.exe"). but it didn't start here is the output:

err:module:import_dll Library binkw32.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Programme (x86)\\Ubisoft\\Beyond Good & Evil\\BGE.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Programme (x86)\\Ubisoft\\Beyond Good & Evil\\BGE.exe" failed, status c0000135

I looked in the windows folder in .wine and there it is the binkw32.dll. But the game didn't find it hmm.

Any way to install it? I have already searched with google and at wineHQ but didn't find anything.

Re: Wine binkw32.dll Beyond Good & Evil

You could try to download binkw32.dll and overwrite one within wine (afaik that is a feature of wine). If that worked you may proceed tweaking (as suggested at winehq: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p … ngId=24474)

Re: Wine binkw32.dll Beyond Good & Evil

C:\\Programme (x86)\\Ubisoft\\Beyond Good & Evil\\BGE.exe

That part does suggest you have wine set to act as windows vista or windows 7 in winecfg .

If that is correct , try installing and running Beyond good & evil  with winecfg set to windows XP.

Note :  the folder " Programme (x86) " is afaik only used by programs written for vista and later , install in folder "Programme"  .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
