Just wondering if that would be possible to get a firefox3 and xulrunner1 packages for those people that don't want to upgrade to FF4 yet for whatever reason.
Not upgrading is not really a solution because FF3 is still getting important security fixes and right now I found no way to get them on Arch.
For example FF3.6.16 has important security fixes that require immediate attention:

How can I get them on my system?

you can just use the old PKGBUILDs for xul and firefox and build 3.6.16
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

This is a site that keeps outdated packages:

But, i don't think any future 3.6.x versions will be present there. So wonder's suggestion is the way to go.

There is this AUR package by ngoonee: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15638 but apparently there are build problems...
Edit: you could also get a pre-built firefox from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla … inux-i686/. I just tried it and it appears to run correctly (under Arch 32 bit.)

Yes, I made that package for this very reason but it just stopped building recently, and I haven't had time to look into it yet.
Pre-built firefox is a good idea, but long-term there'd be library problems etc. (which is also a problem with the package, of course).
EDIT: And a helpful commenter on the AUR has pointed me to the right patch. firefox3 is back up and running as of now ![]()
