Hello.
I've installed Arch Linux (migrated from Ubuntu) and I'm trying to get syntax highlighting from Vim, but I can't get it to work. Can anybody help me out with this?
If you need to know, I have the basic installation only: default xterm, default vim, etc... Do I need to install an specific package for this or something like that?
Thank you!

Welcome to the forums. You can normally find what you need in the Wiki, take a look at the entry for Vim.

I had already read the Vim wiki entry. Yet, no help. I do "syntax on" and Vim doesn't highlight the code.
I'm not sure this is a problem with Vim, really. I have a sense that maybe the terminal isn't supporting colors. I've searched the web already, and haven't found any really useful help so far. I'm using default xterm (installed with "pacman -S xterm"). But I'm not sure of anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Did you install vim or vi only? You will need the vim package at least.
However, best install the gvim package as this will provide you with everything built in.
Then, if you are not yet proficient with vim, try the "vimtutor" vim tutorial command in a terminal.
Otherwise you will get syntax highlighting with the ":syntax enable" command.
See the "Using syntax highlighting" chapter in the "Getting started" Vim ":help".

Thank you. Installing gvim worked!
And I'm surprised. Extremely fast and efficient support from the community! I'm already a fan!
