Hi there!
As 'pacman -Syu' told me, ooo is going to be replaced by libreoffice. Is there any way to do the upgrade, but install ooo again on my GF's account? I for one would like to stay on the cutting edge, but she needs to do some serious work every now and then. I've already had her complain the last time I replaced ooo by libreoffice.
Best wishes,
Rufus

Openoffice is in the AUR. Guess that's the easiest way to solve this issue.

So this is a package source, thanks. Still, I'm looking for a way to install both packages side-by-side (e.g., one in /usr/bin/, and the other in /opt/ or /home/<username>/.bin/ or the like)

Write a PKGBUILD to do that. openoffice is a huge package though, I'd recommend just using libreoffice, its not any less stable (unless you use a few proprietary plugins).

Actually I found that libreoffice for some reason works _worse_ than openoffice!
For example, I have a .doc file made by MS Word, and some of its pages have portrait orientation and some other ones have album orientation. Then openoffice handles this correctly, while libreoffice just thinks that _every_ page has portrait orientation, which screws up all those pages which had album orientation.
