Best kernel to compile

Hello,
I believe I'm an Arch newbie - and also, I'm not sure if this should be posted on this section or the Newbie one.
But, here's the thing:  I'm planning to compile the kernel myself to get some performance tweak, but I have absolutely no idea which one I should use.
I own a Sony Vaio VGN-FW520F, you can see the specs on the link itself.

Other than that, for future reference, how should I decide which kernel I want to compile?  Which patches should it has?

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Best kernel to compile

I recommend kernel26-ck from AUR with bfq enabled (just change a "n" for a "y" in the  PKGBUILD), altough I use a custom kernel, but its very similar.

Re: Best kernel to compile

I recommend pf, it's up-to-date with mainline kernel, and adds e.g. tuxonice.
