Hello everybody,
After upgrade to vlc-1.1.8-1: Watching IP-TV, vlc eats all memory:
Mar 29 08:39:51 localhost kernel: Out of memory: Kill process 2104 (vlc) score 952 or sacrifice child
Mar 29 08:39:51 localhost kernel: Killed process 2104 (vlc) total-vm:9186056kB, anon-rss:3808180kB, file-rss:12412kB
After downgrading back to vlc 1.1.7-6 all goes well.

Upgraded to 1.1.8-2. Still memory problem and choppy sound watching IP-TV:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
2604 polina 20 0 5588m 3.6g 17m S 6 93.0 0:25.21 vlc
Downgraded to vlc-1.1.7-6. Memory and sound problem gone.
When running vlc 1.1.8-2 I noticed that pulseaudio eats much more cpu than with vlc-1.1.7-6. Sound is choppy. vlc works for several minutes, then it begins eating memory and is getting killed.

I've got the same problem using the 1.1.8 versions, but even when watching local video files.
I do have pulseaudio installed as well.
Any ideas?

If you have particular video file which consistently case the problem, maybe we submit issue to vlc developers?

It may be actually an issue of pulseaudio: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=225660

Updated to 1.1.9-1, same problem, pulseaudio cpu load goes from 1% to about 10%.

Posted problem to vlc forum, they said it's known issue:
