The latest version of pacman -S package needed to fix a conflict and I replied 'Y' or it wouldn't have installed what I wanted.
Once the install had finished, pacman complained about a missing 'liblzma.so.0'.
No big deal, I set a symbolic link yourself and it worked as before. I've linked
it to the target, not another link that in turn pointed at the target (thus avoiding the 'link that points to
a link that points to a target' situation).
Just thought that you wanted to know.
Tom.

For when you run into the "every package is corrupt" issue you just caused yourself:
pacman -S libarchive xz
then remove that link...

Thanks, Allan.
I've got a feeling it had to do with the change-over between package formats.
Never happened again.
