Can't forcibly remove nvidia-utils so that I can install catalyst-util

I just got a new ATI card, replacing my Nvidia one. I've been trying to install the catalyst driver, but I can't remove nvidia-utils because many packages depend on libgl. I've tried "pacman -Rd nvidia-utils", but that still (for some reason!) checks dependencies and doesn't allow the nvidia-utils package to be removed! How am I supposed to replace the Nvidia drivers with the ATI ones?

Read man pacman again - the -Rd operation changed in 3.5, you need -Rdd now.
