After running 'pacman -S xorg', I ran startx to test. I got a bash error in return (this command not found). xinit gave the same result. I ran the same thing in a vm maybe a week previous, and it installed xorg just fine. Has anyone had the same problem?

For the start, could you please check /var/log/pacman.log if there are any traces / errors / warnings regarding Xorg? And then, if Xorg was eventually installed, can you check if your PATH is properly set?

startx and xinit are in a package xorg-xinit. xorg-xinit is not part of xorg group.

PATH is
'/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/bin/core_perl'
And as for the log file, there were no problems.
I'm not going to post it unless someone ~really~ wants to see it, as there were 86 packages installed.
When it started, it showed a group of xorg-related packages and prompted to 'make a selection (default=all):'
I probably should have put that up in the first post.

It doesn't seem necessary -- just try to install the package Dogmeat mentioned in his post.

@fishin4guitars
Things change, so just because it worked yesterday doesn't mean it will work today too.
