I've noticed -- no somebody else (could have been xerces2) mentioned it and an idea started to coagulate in my brain -- that there are a lot of useful scripts and things posted to the user contribution forum. Most of these are bash, but there's the occasional perl or python script as well.
The problem with keeping these in the forums is they tend to get lost. Another problem is its kind of hard to post suggestions or edits to the script.
So I thought its time we have a "Scripts" section in the wiki. Basically, anybody that wants to post a script that isn't important enough to start a project or anything, but is useful enough to keep a record of can post it to that section.
I think this should go under the main wiki index (same level as GeneralInfo, HOWTOs, and Translations), and should have subcategory pages as needed. Each script goes on its own page with hints, tips, and instructions for use.
What do people think of this idea? If you like it, I'll add the page forthwith. I'll also go through the user contrib forum and pick out some of the scripts that look useful and add them.

Looks like a good idea to me.

I like it. Here would be a good place to vote which should go in...

Ok, two positives, 0 negatives... I'm going to start on it shortly, I want to finish my aur script first. If you have any scripts you want to have put in the wiki, let me know... or you can do it yourself when the page is set up, :-P

I think this is a great idea too. It would also be a great resource for people who want to pick up a new language. I think looking at existing code, and fiddling with it, is a great boon to someone looking to gain insight into a new lang.

I couldn't agree more. That's how I've been learning.
Hopefully, it will spawn more contributions.

nah, he (I think it was him, maybe it was you or somebody else) mentioned the AL community's vital need to post a script to solve every little problem.

Ok folks, I added the link under main wiki index. I've already added my aurbuild script, I'm going to start adding a few others now...
