GDM fails after upgrading to GTK 3.0.7. Downgrading to GTK 3.0.6 works for me.

@wonder: Thanks, it works. You are great!

You could try creating a new user and just log in with that to see if the problem persists. If it's fixed, then you know the problem lies in your configuration. Otherwise, it's more likely to be something else.
Hmmm, problem exists only on my current profile. But it appeared after upgrade, so where should I search? dconf, gconf? Maybe in gsettings?
EDIT: Thats totally weird - after upgrade to gdm 2.91.94-2 problem is gone... Thanks for an effort.

Just installed this on a Lenovo S10-3 netbook and it works very well. @wonder: great work!
I think I found a minor bug in the shell: the Empathy contact list window does not show up in the activities overview.

installed several weeks ago. Works really great.
The current version has two minor problems on my machine, after upgrading yesterday.
1. Change the desktop background crashes the gnome-session, and the log says
Apr 3 13:55:02 localhost gnome-session[1928]: Gdk-WARNING: gnome-session: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.
It's the same log when the gnome-session and gsettings-desktop-schemas upgrading fails the log-in last week, and it appears when starting the machine, too.
2. The gnome-terminal size is very small when opening, creating tab, and switching tab. I have to resize it, and when switching tab, the size goes back.
Does anyone have similar problems?

1) the crasher should be fixed in g-c-c 2.91.93 but if is still present, can you try some patches?
Conform fedora:
* Wed Mar 30 2011 Adam Jackson <ajax@redhat.com> 1.10.0-7 - xserver-1.10-glx-pixmap-crash.patch, xserver-1.10-bg-none-revert.patch: bugfixes from xserver-next
this should fix the problem. get them from http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/gitweb/?p … f15/master and apply them to xorg-server.
Please report back
2) bug in gtk 3.0.7, should be fixed in the next version.

@meijin do you use nvidia driver? Right now nvidia 270.30 and vmware are having problems with each other. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=160035

I updated my Gnome desktop yesterday and there are 2 major issues:
1. Applets in top right corner - when I click accessibility, volume, bluetooth, networkmanager or power manager applet shell will restart. In fall-back mode everything is OK. Calendar and status/logout applets work perfectly.
** Message: applet now removed from the notification area
gnome-session[1715]: WARNING: Application 'gnome-shell.desktop' killed by signal
gnome-shell-calendar-server[2857]: Got HUP on stdin - exiting
JS LOG: GNOME Shell started at Sun Apr 03 2011 11:11:11 GMT+0200 (CEST)
** Message: applet now embedded in the notification area
2. When I'm starting nautilus for first (sometimes for 2 or 3 time), session will crash with that Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0 error.

One problem, i've searched the last pages, but i couldn't find an answer, so perhaps someone can help me out:
I can change the background image in gnome and it will be set as wallpaper correctly. But on the next gnome start, my background-image is "lost", and i've got an ugly, plain green background.
Is there a way to fix this?
I am very happy with gnome3, but this is kind of disturbing.

Installed gnome3 (for good), but some problems :
1) numlock is not activated by default
2) you have to install it cleanly (ie remove previous gnome) if you don't want to get tons of gtk-update-icon-cache missing message while upgrading
So far so good besides this
Thanks for your hard work !

@jolinfire for 2) can you point out the log to see where is missing? From my experience i saw that this happens mostly when gnome-unstable is not in the right place in pacman.conf

Thanks very much. I downgraded gtk and patched xorg-server, works like a charm.

Well, it was on top of repo list. Got gnome3 working, but I have to trash gwibber for now
Just waiting for 3.0.0 official release now

I installed today and only notice the same problem with gtk 3.0.7 (gnome-terminal window starting to small).
During the installation I saw 1 mention of an existing file in filesystem: /usr/share/gnome-games-common/cards/bonded.svg (part of gnome-games)
/EDIT: I encountered a problem though: in dconf-editor I cannot change a stringvalue: doubleclicking the value shows a very thin box without any apparent functionality (it's not an inputbox, nor does using the arrows change anything)

So far no mayor problems with gnome3. Only one issue. When I try to add a new printer using the gnome-control-center (using "+") there's a crash of the interface and this is the output I get:
[lorenzo@nemesis ~]$ gnome-control-center
**
GLib:ERROR:gvarianttypeinfo.c:186:g_variant_type_info_check: assertion failed: (0 <= index && index < 24)
Annullato
[lorenzo@nemesis ~]$
Confirmations? Better to file this bug? It seems to be critical...

I can confirm this. Gnome Terminal is opening full size
Only this "pita" bug : numlock is disabled on start

@zenlord that is fixed in dconf git and it should be available in the next version
@jolinfire report it against gnome-settings-daemon and paste the link here

Has anybody so far managed to set a custom gtk3.0 theme? If so, how? Thanks.

I haven't. I guess noone has. though in latest elementary theme it's written
3/5/11(v2.1)
+ dropped Aurora engine
+ new xfwm4 theme
+ works with GTK 3
+ misc bug fixes
+ dark by default
Dan Rabbit says we need gtk3-engine-murrine.

Hi fellows,
Well, I was really wrong.
Definitely, gnome3 isn't KDE 4 - version 2. I have been using it for more than 1 week and I haven't got a single crash!
Yes, there are many things to be added and to be polished, but it is completely usable, totally different from KDE 4.0.0.
Btw, thanks for the ArchLinux packages! It is amazing to use gnome3 before its release

I wanted to ask what exactly packages are using Gtk2 now when installing Gnome 3? Is it possible to get rid of this package and use only Gtk3 or for now it won't be possible? I am asking about Gnome 3 and Gnome-Shell only, I know that I will miss many applications when I will drop Gtk2. Any clues?
