I recently installed Arch Linux on my Acer Aspire. I am using Gnome with this system. My touchpad seems to work except it doesn't have scrolling or click on tap. Also, the movements aren't smooth.

may be a stupid question, but have you installed synaptics?
# sudo pacman -S xf86-input-synaptics

I like pie. Especially with a side of Arch.

actually I do have that installed... I figured out how to fix this problem.. but it was really unexpected. I went to gconf editor and changed the settings for the mouse pad. I believe that fixed it but it took my computer two or three reboots to actually make that happen. I am not sure what went wrong actually.
