I'm not exactly sure what is going on and searching google more or less turned up nothing which is why I am here. The VGA controller shows up as a "Silicon Motion SM710 LynxEM" So I loaded the xf86-video-siliconmotion driver. This may or may not be the correct one. I also downloaded the generic Vesa driver but I am not sure how to actually remove the SiliconMotion and load the Vesa. Thank you so much!!!

Re: X (Fatal Error)

Try pacman -R xf86-video-siliconmotion, pacman -S xf86-video-vesa.

Genius! Well X loads just fine now. I guess Im stuck with the vesa than huh? No big deal as this laptop wont be used for much but it would be nice to have a decent driver. Thanks a billion times over!

Don't forget to use the code tag.  It will make your post a lot more readable.

As for a video driver, you might want to read the man page for siliconmotion driver and see if you can't get it to work by manipulating some of its options:

Re: X (Fatal Error)

Is your system up to date? It seems you're running an old xorg-server: X.Org X Server 1.8.1.902 (1.8.2 RC 2)X.Org X Server 1.8.1.902 (1.8.2 RC 2)
The current one is 1.9.4.901-1.
