Firefox Error "Couldn't Load XPCOM."

I upgrade to libevent-2.0, installed tor polipo and TorButton.

Firefox works, tor works.

Close firefox, reboot system... firefox doesn't start "Couldn't load XPCOM"

I try reinstalling xul-runner. It won't let me, I have to upgrade to firefox 4.0. I say ok. I upgrade firefox 4.0 xul-runner and sqlite.

Firefox doesn't start "Couldn't load XPCOM"

Don't to partial updates, it will only bring pain and sorrow as you have experienced. If you had done -Syu you wouldn't have gotten this issue in the first place.

That was the feeling I got from your response.... However, to rephrase my question: how were you able to figure out it was the NSS package, specifically, when "Couldn't load XPCOM" was the only clue firefox was giving you? Googling that phrase wasn't especially helpful, but I might have missed something.

@Mr.Elendig I know I'm a bad boy.

That was the feeling I got from your response. However, my question was more along the lines of: how were you able to figure out it was the NSS package, specifically, when "Couldn't load XPCOM" was the only clue firefox was giving you? Googling that phrase wasn't especially helpful, but I might have missed something.

@Mr.Elendig I know I'm a bad boy.

There have been several threads about the problem, and discussion on the irc channel

Re: Firefox Error "Couldn't Load XPCOM."

I missed that threads too, but some memories on my previous gentoo install pointed me to nss, can't really say why smile
