Hi,
Insight:
I installed ladspa (dont remember why).
It caused Amarok and flash to crash, the reason being caps.so was not found.
Then I un-installed ladspa and compiled caps from source, got amarok and flash working.
Problem:
Now, google voice chat doesnt work... i cant hear the other person speaking,
nor can he hear me speak.
Can you help me restore my system to the previous (normal) state ?

The package 'ladspa' has nothing to do with that. You can install 'caps' [1] alongside 'ladspa' and get Amarok and the Flash plug-in to work. Simply uninstall 'caps', do not use Amarok or the Flash plug-in, and then try the Google voice chat. Report if it works then.

Right, so now you have confirmed that it wasn't 'ladspa' at fault here. What was indeed at fault, would be difficult to figure out. It would be less difficult if you posted a new thread concerning this Google voice chat issue you have.

I'll start a new thread.
I'd installed ladspa and caps as they were dependencies for alsaequal.
Put back ladspa, got alsaequal working fine.
Also the firefox error message for google voice chat is:
ALSA lib dlmisc.c:236:(snd1_dlobj_cache_get) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_equal.so
(I use a 64 bit machine)
