Hello,
since one or two week I recognized flickering animated gifs in Midori, also in Epiphany. In Firefox the gif's still look fine.
Anyone else?

I cannot verify this for now in Midori (latest git build). Can you provide any example address?

I can confirm this. It seems that not every gif is affected, but most. Using midori 0.3.2-1 from extra.

both of those work fine here. webkit based browser using libwebkit 1.3.10. maybe you just need to update webkit. i think repos use 1.2.7

Now I do see the flicker as well (using libwebkit 1.2.7-1) although not consistently. The gif linked first by sm4tik flickers for several seconds and then stays stable for a longer time.

Fine, so I am not alone with this issue. If I search on the web I found only bug-reports which are ~two years old.

Gentoo user here (well, Funtoo). I can confirm this in webkit-gtk 1.2.7, running in luakit.. I'll install a newer version as Milomouse seems not to have the problem, and report back.

Allright, webkit 1.3.10, then.
But where did you get it?

from their website: http://webkitgtk.org/webkit-1.3.10.tar.gz
1.3.12 is newest if you wanted to try that, too.

What do I need to install for the glib dev tools (or whatever they were called) in order to install the newer webkit releases? Also, while I think I understand the installation process other than that, if anyone could write out instructions for upgrading webkit I would appreciate it
Thank you, and sorry for being a noob.

This flickering even exists when I configure privoxy to deanimate gif files.

You can use the gnome-unstable repository. Things may break on your system though.

Solved with [testing] and webkit 1.3
