Re: [SOLVED]System Settings -> Printers greyed out

gnome-control-center-3.0.0.1-2 has cups-pk-helper as dependency. Now the unlock button exists and add/remove buttons are available after unlocking.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: [SOLVED]System Settings -> Printers greyed out

i just uninstall the pkg build with the PKGBUILD from fphillips and update the system with new version of gnome-control-center and cups-pk-helper.
adding a new lokal printer fails with this error:

(gnome-control-center:3577): printers-cc-panel-WARNING **: The name org.freedesktop.PackageKit was not provided by any .service files

I try now to install  packagekit ... same error...

Re: [SOLVED]System Settings -> Printers greyed out

Finally! Starting the avahi-daemon lets the control center find my printer automatically! Only issue now are all the warnings that pop up saying that my printer might not be connected, despite the fact that it seems to print fine!

@killajoe

What printer do you have? Control center is apparently trying to use packagekit to install a driver. You should be able to work around that by installing gutenprint/foomatic/hplip.

I wonder whether anything can be done in control-center about the packagekit requirement.
