B43 driver problems

I have one of the supported b43 wifi cards, but when I install the b43 driver via pacman, the system still doesn't detect my WiFi card at start up. Can someone please help?
The command lspci | grep -i net gives me the result:
06:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)

Re: B43 driver problems

You need a 'b43-firmware' package. What's 'b43'?
If this doesn't help, see here: http://lucasmanual.com/mywiki/bcm43xx

Re: B43 driver problems

And be sure you have "b43" listed in your modules and blacklist "!wl" if that's listed.

Re: B43 driver problems

Do you have the firmware sorted out? I installed this AUR package on my laptop for wifi... http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21690

If you're looking at the broadcom wireless wiki page here - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Br … Fb43legacy - I don't think you need to do the commands under the AUR package link, as that's what the package takes care of.

Re: B43 driver problems

I have already installed the b43-firmware from the AUR using yaourt, and I followed the instructions on the wiki for the driver. However when I try to run the last command, sudo b43-fwcutter -w "$FIRMWARE_INSTALL_DIR" wl_apsta.o, it gives me an error saying that the file is not accessible.

OK, I solved the problem with the file not being accessible, but now even after I complete guide, my system still doesn't detect my WiFi card

Re: B43 driver problems

Did you rmmod b43 and then modprobe b43  (Or just reboot)
If that doesn't work, look through the output of dmesg for messages relating to firmware and b43

Re: B43 driver problems

I tried that, and it didn't work. My card is being detected by iwconfig, but I cannot connect to any wireless network from the gnome network manager. In addition, if I try to activate the wlan0, it says that the operation is not possible due to RF-kill, even though I unblocked WLAN and WiFi from RF-kill. sad
