[solved] X crashes randomly when playing videos

Hi there,

I've god a problem that X crashes randomly when playing videos, either with mplayer, or gnash in a web browser.

I need a hint on which log to look up to locate the problem. Can someone help?

Any errors in the logs? Define "crashes". What hardware do you have (graphics card) and which driver are you using?

I bet you have an Intel card.

Check in /var/log/Xorg.log

Well, the X restarted. I guess it's because X crashed first, then GDM somehow restarted X. I'm using an Intel video card.

I'll look into the log file next time X crashes.

I bet you have an Intel card.

Check in /var/log/Xorg.log

Thanks a lot! Yes, both laptops use Intel cards and X crashes on both x86 and x86_64 Arch Linux systems. I'll look into the logs next time X crashes.

Don't bother. It's a known bug.

Avoid going fullscreen with glx apps and you'll be fine for the moment
