Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

Maybe try installing xf86-input-keyboard and xf86-input-mouse. And xf86-input-synaptics if it's a laptop. edit: sorry I couldn't tell if you had xorg installed when I read it?

Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

Have you tried a different pacman mirror? Do a "pacman -Syy" and then "pacman -Su".

http://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/
Choose one, add it to your /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
Comment out the others.
Hope it'll work out for you this time.

Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

It's up to you whether to do it. If you think it's not the problem then probably it's not since it's your computer, you know much better than me.
So let's try another approach.
xf86-video-xgi, xf86-video-xgixp is graphics packages so you probably won't need it.
Can you give me some output?

cat /proc/bus/input/devices

Also your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
If you fail to create one using Xorg -configure, try removing those 2 packages.

Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

I'm sorry but I just don't understand why your system goes wrong. sad
There's something I want to ask though. Is your keyboard working in the console before Xorg?
And if you're tired of installing, take a break for a few days, it should help.
I ran into trouble before too, but after I give up for a few days (or weeks), the solution just pop up from nowhere (either I solved it or someone else fix it).

Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

It's not like I tell you to give up on arch, I just mean you should give your mind a little rest instead of stressing it any further.
If your keyboard fails after update, most probably it's cause by a kernel error, perhaps you should file a bug report.
Also try holding back your kernel instead of upgrading it.
Try one of these if you like:
1, Uncomment the line "#IgnorePkg = " in /etc/pacman.conf.
Add "kernel26 kernel26-firmware" after =.

IgnorePkg = kernel26 kernel26-firmware

2, Uses kernel26-lts instead: "pacman -S kernel26-lts"

And sorry, Same as stlarch, I thought you're having problem with Xorg but after reading more carefully I realize my mistake and asked you to confirmed it big_smile

Thank you very much. with "IgnorePkg = kernel26 kernel26-firmware" it solved.
just now, resolution is  too high. when login in kde with 'kdm' command and change resolution to "1024X768", . . . either screen broken or monitor turn to off.?

Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

Probably an "out of sync" error. Are you using a CRT monitor?
And to be more specific: you run kdm, login, and run a tool, change the resolution to 1024x768, click OK, and it goes black.
If it's true, try reduce vsync value, perhaps to 85, and a failsafe value would be 60.

yes.

I tried Various scenarios it, but The result is the same.
Edit: Example: with 1024x768x85 monitor to be turn off, or with 1024x768x70 screen to be broken.
Edit2:This just an example. Values do not remember smile

How broken? It's strange but for CRT monitor I often see 85,75,60 not 70.
Also, try running xrandr and give me the output

Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

Strange, It successfully display at 1920x1440 (which is HD resolution) but fails at 1024x768?
I can't see why.
And perhaps you should mark this thread as [Solve] and create a new one for this.
Post your xrandr output, describe exactly what do you mean by "broken", a picture if possible.
Also, try it at resolution 1024x768_60.0, and 1280x1024_60.0 and give the result.
and try tampering with your monitor's buttons if it fixs anything.

Re: Conk out keyboard and mouse after update system [SOLVED]

I really apologize. What mistake I was yikes
I installed few distribution that are Debian, Fedora and arch. In the beginning, I've copied "kernel26.img , vmlinuz26" in boot partition, but i forgot copy the "kernel26.img , vmlinuz26"  after update kernel. This was the issue. That's it and no any problem.
