I did a alsaconf and it doesent find any soundcards.
How to fix this?
Offline
it found only 1 of my audio outputs (hdmi on the videocard, and i don't use that one).
After i cancelled alsaconf, i did alsactl store and that removed the error alsa gave on starting.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

ok, this is what happened on my system :
after the lastest kernelupdate , from 2.6.37.5 to 2.6.38.2 alsa gave errors on boot and i decided to see what alsaconf reported.
alaaconf only saw 1 of my audio cards (and the one i don't use) , so i canceled alsaconf.
"aplay - l" and alsamixer did show all my my audio outputs, and sound was working.
(with alsamixer you can also switch between your sound devices).
I ran 'alsactl store' (as root) , at next boot the errors were gone.
it's likely this only works if you already have a working configuration.
if this doesn't help you, please post the output of the following commands :
aplay -l
lsmod|grep '^snd' | column -t
ls -l /dev/snd
