option 'force' not recognized

I was about compiling libffi and pacman threw an error on me.

unrecognized option

The PKGBUILD has as options

options=('!libtool' 'force')

I deleted the force part and everything went well. So what does this force thing anyway? The wiki is a bit silent about this...

I guess that something that got omitted over the course of time. Right or wrong?

remove th force option. is deprecated in favor of epoch

There are some more PKGBUILD with that option... what to do?

I count 42 hits mostly in community and extra...

bugreport perhaps?

That would be good, yes. The change is pretty recent, and some packages can go years without being rebuilt (so something like that wouldn't be caught).
