Lousy java performance (Minecraft) and only sound in one program

Hi

I've installed sun java with pacman, and got really lousy performance in Minecraft. Even with lowest graphic settings Java uses +70% CPU.
I've played Minecraft before on this computer (got a 6 core CPU) so hardware isn't a problem.
I usually run Minecraft with this command:

java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

Also, I only get sound in one program at a time. I've followed the ALSA-guide at the wiki but still got the problem.

It is really annoying since the notification sounds from Empathy "takes" the sound from Minecraft. Same with flash.

For the sound, you might want to look at pulseaudio. Not sure about the java.
