hi hi ... you mean the announcement make it broken?

How is the upgrade supposed to be done?
Do I need to:
 remove old version of amarok first and then install -base and -engine
or  just do upgrade of old version
or  just install new version?
What is possibility of breakage and mayhem during this?
cheers,

it should ask for replacement as soon as you do pacman -S amarok-base .... the engines are facultatively (you dont need to install them if you dont need them)

I updated to amarok-base this morning. Works fine with both the artsd and xine engines to play the online mp3 shoutcast feed I listen too. But I can't get it to play a Music CD properly. It cuts in and out. Is it just me or amarok?

what engine do you try to play the audio cd?

I tried arts and it cuts in and out. The xine engine didn't produce any sound what so ever. They both work fine with shoutcast feeds. The cd will play with KsCD.

PS I never tried to play CD's with the old version of amarok.

with arts, if i try to play the wav's from the audiocd:/ they will play with cuts in and out, like you described
if you go to the sub-dirs in the audiocd:/ view, you will find that if you try to play "MP3" and "Ogg Vorbis" entries, that they play fine
why this is so, i have no idea. maybe it's a 1.2.4 bug or something like this

me neither (always used cdcd)

can somebody of you do a pacman -Qo /opt/kde/lib/kde3/libamarok_void-engine_plugin.so or some other file from this list ... so that we know what is wrong - thanx

Mine's working fine too

I reported the taglib failure, when I was told it was in abs I shut down amarok before trying "pacman -Suy" again and it all installed OK

I had those errors. I did a pacman -R amorak and then pacman -S amorak-base etc. Then every thing worked.
