Cant change resolution above 1024x768

Hello, I have the intel gma 3100 onboard graphics card.
I have installed the xf86-video-intel drivers.
In KDE, the 3d effects work nice and fine, except that its 1024x768 on a 1920x1080 monitor.
How can I set it to that resolution?

Re: Cant change resolution above 1024x768

Have you restarted your computer after installing the drivers?

Re: Cant change resolution above 1024x768

Any errors in the logs? Is the file you posted here your xorg.conf? Have you tried running w/o it?
Check if the module gets loaded

lsmod | grep -i intel

.
Try changing the resolution like this

xrandr --fb 1920x1080

Re: Cant change resolution above 1024x768

The module is i915, not intel. I see that you have it loaded, so things seem to be fine from the kernel perspective. Next up, remove the xorg.conf. If it still doesn't work, post /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Re: Cant change resolution above 1024x768

Ok, also xrandr --fb 1920x1080 as non root makes everything go buggy.
As root it says

 Cannot open display :O

I followed the intel wiki, so I tried puting in the i915.

Removing xorg.conf does nothing.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log (after removing xorg.conf)

Re: Cant change resolution above 1024x768

Looks like 1024x768 is the highest the driver gets from the display. Can you test with a different display? Or can you test with a connection method other than VGA (either HDMI or DVI)? If not, writing a modeline seems to be in order. It's been a while since I've done that, so someone else will need to help with that one.

Re: Cant change resolution above 1024x768

I am using hdmi, should I try VGA?
How should I go about this modeline?
