Problems with nVidia graphics and OpenGL

Hi!
I've been having troubles with opengl and my graphic card nVidia GeForce Go 7200 on my laptop for 1-2 weeks. Now, I can't play some games I could play before (Mars Shooter, Tibia, Savage...). The screen just doesn't start: it gets black, white or whatever but the game. And also, glxgears doesn't show the "gears" running on a window, it's just a black window. What should I do? I think it can be solved downgrading xorg or drivers, but I don't know how to do it lol .
Thanks for reading ( and for answering wink )

Re: Problems with nVidia graphics and OpenGL

Check /var/log/Xorg.0.log for errors.

Well, if you want to downgrade the nvidia driver, then download a suitable version from here:

http://schlunix.org/archlinux/

Then do

# pacman -U /location/of/file.tar.xz

Are you using Composite desktop?
It *might* have something to do with this:

Brebs, there are no errors on it.

Its the same problem! I'm using KDE4 and composition/compiz freezes my desktop but my mouse, and everything else works; I have to kill xserver to continue working. Graphic effects were still activated, but they were not as good as they were before because the composition desactivated automaticlly. I realised it before, but i didn't care about it. Now i now why it is like this lol

@x33a
I'm downgrading the nvidia 270.xx driver. If it doesn't work, i will try nouveau.

I'll keep posting,  thanks to all for replying wink

Re: Problems with nVidia graphics and OpenGL

Well, I' have not  solved the problem, but now my graphic card works OK.
Now, I'm using nouveau drivers on my laptop, with high resolution and "mini-problems"; but this is better than the 270.xx driver. Obviously, i can't play 3D games, but now OpenGL works, and other simple games are playable and simple desktop effects, that's enough.

It has also solved me another problem: now I know why gnome-shell couldn't start before! XD. Either I can't start it now (the screen gets black/white/blue with "forms" and "windows"), it's one of my "mini-problems". I hope to use Gnome3 it when I get the propper drivers.

Finnally, I didnt make the drivers downgrade because it was neccesary to downgrade the kernel too.. and I think that the drivers aren't really necessaries to me.

If someone finds a good solution, please, post it here. Thanks for reading.
