This is really driving me nuts....I did a fresh Arch install.
Everything is working, when using Gnome as DE. I now run Openbox.
In openbox, when I connect a USB drive, I can't access the drive. I get the following error: Failed to mount "Data". Not authorized
Filemanager --> Thunar with volmanager plugin enabled.
slim.conf --> login_cmd exec ck-launch-session /bin/bash -login ~/.xinitrc %session
.xinitrc --> exec openbox-session
rc.conf --> syslog-ng dbus hal network netfs crond alsa wicd sshd
Installed: gvfs, consolekit, dbus, hal
Pls HELP!!
Thx

Doesn't work. Slim keeps looping then. Probably because the ck-launch-session is in /etc/slim.conf??

I adjusted /etc/slim.conf back to : slim.conf --> login_cmd exec ck-launch-session /bin/bash -login ~/.xinitrc %session
At least it boots again now, but I still get the same error (:

login_cmd exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch /bin/bash -login ~/.xinitrc %session
It's recommended to run dbus-launch after ck-launch-session in slim.conf.

I modified my /etc/slim.conf according to your suggestion
.xinitrc --> exec openbox-session
But now SLIM leads to an error: Failed to execute login command
After entering user / pw it shows the error and the login window is presented again.

run dbus-launch from a terminal, what does it say?

Well, I'm not sure where the problem is.
Could you try get some logs, /var/log/slim.log.
Edit ~/.xinitrc, make it "exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch openbox-session" and run startx from console, post the error (if there's any).
Also, try running "dbus-launch thunar", see if it can mount, also post the output if it doesn't.
Another thing, you can try login with gdm to see if the problem is slim only.

Yep, tried login with GDM. GDM + Gnome works fine, no errors when mounting USB.
So it's very likely to be a Slim issue. I'm gonna try and see some logs.

Ok, did some digging in /var/log....
slim.log:
These lines reoccur a lot....
/usr/bin/xauth: file /home/sven/.Xauthority does not exist
/usr/bin/xauth: file /var/run/slim.auth does not exist
slim: waiting for X server to begin accepting connections
slim: unexpected signal 15
Again, thx for the help!

Well, I have been searching about this xauth problem with no hopes.
Could you post the full log.
And is there anything strange that related to the problem, no matter how small?
For the moment, you could continue using GDM with OpenBox.
