Xfce4 and reboot/shutdown problem with xorg-server 1.10

Just wanted to report that I did an -Syu, it updated xfdesktop to 4.8.2, and the problem is solved for me.

I think it is important to mention that I did not play around with consolekit, policykit, users, or groups. I am using the same basic configuration (member of the "users" group only, and normal method of starting Xfce).

With the fix from upstream, I am back to where I was prior to the xorg-server / xfdesktop issue. I am able to reboot and shutdown from within Xfce, and xfdesktop no longer crashes.

xfdesktop 4.8.2 fixed it for me also on 3 different machines that all had slightly different stack traces during the crash on logout/shutdown

OP: Between myself and skunktrader (3 different PCs), I think it's safe to assume that this problem is solved. Can you run an update on your system and see if the problem is solved for you too? Make sure to first revert any changes you might have done while trying to troubleshoot the issue.

I had the same problem, you have to use real transparency with the composite manager.
add the following to your conky config:

# Real Transparency with composite manager
own_window_argb_visual true
own_window_argb_value 0

Well, the original XFCE bug report was reopened, my understanding is that pseudo-transparency (w/o compositing) is now broken in xfdesktop 4.8.2...
