I would like my phone to show up in Rhythmbox as well as open thunar with it mounted like it did in Ubuntu. I have searched all over etc. and nothing but disparate posts referring to udev, devfs and hal.
I am using wmii as the wm, and it's not showing up automatically in either program. I run dmesg and see it there, mount it with pmount and then I can go see it in /media/sdb1 but it doesn't show up in Rhythmbox (and I have the plugins for music players). I kinda miss the days of just putting something in my fstab.
Any help would be nice. Thanks.

UPDATE:
Not sure what I did as I've been trying a few things, but in /media now shows the udev mounts. Still does not show up in Rhythmbox.

Have you tried the instuctions https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/An … eal_device? It may help. Also, is there an option on your phone to switch from storage to music sync? It may also help to enable "usb debugging" in your settings. I'm not sure exactly where either of those two things would be, but you should be able to find them.

Thanks for your link. I tried that, but didn't do much more than give my device a name with lsusb. It's showing up in /media automatically, but it's NOT showing up in Rhythmbox and Thunar. What did people do to get theirs to work?? Am assuming you just installed everything. I just want a light system and no gnome, etc.

Do you have libmtp installed? Clementine treats my droid's SD card as an MTP device.
Also check is rhythmbox was installed with mtp support

libmtp is installed as well as the mtp plugin in Rhythmbox. Funny because Shotwell will see it as a device and ask to import my photos from the phone.
