Nautilus outside of GNOME: MIME-Types, app. startup etc.

Hi there,

I'd like to use Nautilus outside of GNOME (nautilus --no-desktop) -- either in XFCE4 or (preferably) in WMI. But neither the icons for folders and files are loaded nor are there any open-with-application presets.

Now, if I start gnome-session, all this naturally is remedied. But that can't be the solution. wink Question: How do I have to start nautilus, or what other gnome thingy needs to be loaded so I have a fully functional Nautilus?

Your feedback is much appreciated.

You could try starting the GNOME settings daemon:

$ /usr/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon &

(I forget where exactly it is in the filesystem, since I'm at work at the moment.)

/opt/gnome/libexec/gnome-settins-daemon if you're using the Arch package for GNOME smile
